WIDA: World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment

Spring Academy: A Custom Design: Integrating the WIDA ELD Standards, Common Core State Standards, & Next Generation Science Standards

April 3-5, St. Louis, MO

Participants will discuss the language demands of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation of Science Standards (NGSS). In school teams, participants will work in integrating content (CCSS and NGSS) and language (WIDA ELD) standards to develop a custom design for the instruction and assessment of ELLs. CLIMBS: (Content and Language Integration as a Means of Bridging Success)

CLIMBS (Content and Language Integration as a Means of Bridging Success), is a program designed to raise awareness of the needs of English language learners and foster collaboration among ESL/bilingual and general education/subject-area teachers with the aim of supporting the academic success of ELLs in school and beyond. See the webpage for more information about the CLIMBS Conference.

WIDA Conference

October 17-19, 2013 Milwaukee, WI

The World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) group at UW-Madison will be offering its first national conference in Milwaukee. The conference “Language Learner Success Building on Strengths,” will provide PreK through grade 12 educators of language learners opportunities for professional development, idea sharing, relationship building, and strategic collaboration.

WIDA advances academic language development and academic achievement for linguistically diverse students through high quality standards, assessments, research, and professional development for educators.
