UW School of Education unveils ‘Literacy Shuffle’ touchdown dance challenge

March 25, 2014

There is a new dance craze sweeping over the UW-Madison School of Education as we prepare for the 2014 Wisconsin Football Spring Game on April 12.

We call it the “Literacy Shuffle” –- and all are invited to join in on the fun.

Literacy Shuffle videoThe School of Education is issuing a read and roll challenge -- to Badger fans and reading enthusiasts alike –- in search of dance moves worthy of the Camp Randall video board for game day. Follow our example and get shuffling ...

To take the challenge:

• Pick your favorite literary character.

• Brainstorm, “if my favorite book character scored a touchdown at Camp Randall, what would the end zone celebration look like?”

• Hit record! Make a video of your new touchdown dance (20 seconds or less). Submissions can be individuals, pairs or groups –- just be creative! Props or costumes are encouraged .

For complete details, including how to send us your videos, visit the Literacy Shuffle web page.

The School of Education is accepting entries now through April 2. All entries will be posted to the School of Education’s YouTube channel –- and select videos will be played on the Camp Randall video boards during the 2014 Wisconsin Football Spring Game.

The Badgers' annual scrimmage is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Camp Randall Stadium. The Spring Game gives fans a chance to get an early look at UW Coach Gary Andersen’s 2014 Badgers, while also providing support to the School of Education’s commitment to bolstering student literacy, which is crucial to the success of individuals both within the classroom and throughout life.

Former Badger and Green Bay Packers standout Mark Tauscher and former Wisconsin first lady Jessica Doyle have been designated by the School of Education as honorary co-chairs for the Spring Game. Both are members of the School of Education’s Board of Visitors, which serves as an external advisory body to the Dean.
